Amul Malai Paneer Fresh is a staple in Indian vegetarian kitchens, bought for its rich protein content and versatility in cooking. The product's ingredient list is admirably short — milk solids and citric acid (a standard food-safe coagulant) — placing it in the 'processed' rather than 'ultra-processed' category. The single most important caution flag for any consumer is the trans fat figure: 8.0g per 100g (4.0g per 50g serving) is extraordinarily high even for full-fat dairy and is almost certainly an OCR transcription error on the label data, since ruminant dairy typically contributes 0.3–0.8g trans fat per 100g; however, until Amul confirms the correct figure, the number as recorded drives a SafeShelf disqualification. Saturated fat is genuinely high (14.4g/100g, 7.2g/serving) and should be moderated by those with heart disease or dyslipidaemia. On the positive side, protein is substantial at 20g/100g, calcium is excellent at 480mg/100g, added sugars are zero, and there are no artificial additives whatsoever.
