About
Rosewood honey is a monofloral honey produced by bees foraging predominantly on the blossoms of the rosewood tree (Aniba rosodora, family Lauraceae), native to the Amazon basin. Like all honeys, it is a supersaturated natural solution of sugars — primarily fructose and glucose — along with minor constituents including phenolic compounds, enzymes, and trace minerals, used as a natural sweetener and traditional food.
Safety summary
Rosewood honey is safe for the general adult population when consumed in moderate amounts; no specific toxicological hazards unique to rosewood as a floral source have been identified in the authoritative literature. As with all honeys, it may carry Clostridium botulinum spores and must never be given to infants under 12 months. High sugar content warrants moderation by diabetics and those managing weight or dental health.
